The Big Eggs Fundraiser
15 May 2025, 7.30 pm
Big Sofa Theatre presents… The Big Eggs Fundraiser Scratch Night. A night of exciting new writing, theatre, alternative comedy, puppetry, and more!
Big Sofa Theatre are fundraising to take their show “Eggs Aren’t That Easy To Make” (by Maria Telnikoff) to the Edinburgh Fringe this summer. And they need your help! Expect a night of amazing theatrical and comedic talent mixed with lots of egg-related fun (a raffle, handmade eggy gifts, specialty drinks, fun times) all for a good cause. Help this new theatre company make their #EGGINBURGH dreams come true!
The show going to Edinburgh: “Eggs” is a queer rom-com about a lesbian couple trying for a baby. They decide to get their male best friend to be their sperm donor - what could go wrong? It’s a four-hander, played by actors in their 20s imagining what life might be like for them in their 30s. It seeks to portray, amid all the anxiety and uncertainty of being in your 20s, a happy and aspirational future, in which queer families have the same right to a “normal” life as the rest of society. It will be on at Underbelly, Edinburgh, for the whole month.
Big Sofa Theatre is a queer, new writing company led by writer Maria Telnikoff and director Lauren Tranter, who came together over their joint desire to create optimistic, nuanced stories about queer characters. Maria is the writer of hit shows “My Dad Wears A Dress” (Nottingham Playhouse) and “All The Men Are Going To Hate Me” (Soho Theatre). Lauren has directed shows at venues such as Unity Theatre (Liverpool), Royal & Derngate (Northampton), Theatre 503, and Polka Theatre.
